Annie Kérouedan
Doctor
Annie worked for 14 years as a doctor in Uummannaq, a settlement in West Greenland. After retiring, together with her husband, Pierre Auzias, they created the twinning of Granville and Uummannaq and established a "Greenlandic Week" - an annual festival that takes place in Granville in November.
HISTORY
Doctor Annie Kerouedan, French by birth, studied medicine and graduated as a physician in Copenhagen in 1979, specializing in gynecology.
She spent few years working in Denmark and France, and in 1986 had her first encounter with Greenland, where she worked as a physician for five months in Paamiut hospital, in the southern part of the country. A few years later, in 1992, she spent three months working in Sisimiut hospital. She would then return to Greenland several times after these first experiences.

Annie arrived to Uummannaq in 2003 to work in the local hospital. It was right about then that she met Pierre Auzias, an artist who was travelling with the Royal Danish Family on a visit to Greenland. Together, Annie and Pierre decided to move to Uummannaq, where they lived as part of local community from 2006. Here, she became hospital chief, and dealt with every kind of situation until 2017, when she retired.

During her career, besides growing experiences in Greenland, Doctor Annie Kerouedan has also worked in Mali, western Africa, cooperating with a small NGO one month per year from 2003 to 2006.
