Nowadays Jon runs a podcast about sailing, runs his own yacht - S/Y Njord - and works as a captain and ocean activist.

Jon crossed the North Sea 13 times, the Atlantic twice, and competed in a number of short-handed regattas, both national and international.
He has assisted several high latitude sailing expeditions with advice and weather routing assistance, and delivered a number of yachts.
Jon sailed also in Greenland, circumnavigated Svalbard - and has written "Sail to Svalbard", a comprehensive guide that will help you preparing the boat and crew, providing guidance through the application process, available harbors and anchorages for the whole archipelago.
Vast majority of expedition sailors had a pleasure to read his book "High Latitude Sailing" co-written with Bob Shepton. With practical advice, stunning photography and first-hand accounts of voyages from world-renowned experts, this book offers hard-won wisdom on all aspects of sailing in cold waters!

SUPPORT ESVBS
The first edition of ESVBS is an independently produced pilot, explaining who we are, pointing the direction we want to go, and inviting others to support it.
We made it free for everyone to participate and attend it.
We created it in the middle of a pandemic and global recession, with closed borders and our humble resources, but most importantly with a lot of drive, joy, sweat and passion!
