HISTORY
Napaland is a family business founded by Annukka Pekkarinen (FIN) & Sigurdur Jonsson (IS).
”Napa” in Finnish means "pole" - the North pole, the South pole, magnetic pole creating Northern lights - even the Arctic Circle in Finnish is the “Napa”circle. It is a word of great variety, because Napa can also mean the center of the universe, and even your bellybutton! Napaland can draw all of this together: it can represent your love for the Arctic regions, as well as the importance of your own experience in exploring and enjoying the world.
The expedition yacht Byr is a great basecamp for the skiers, mountaineers, hikers, bikers, swimmers, divers, trail runners and kayakers, where a hot dinner and a warm bed is waiting for the adventurers at the end of the day – or it can be a basecamp for a calm, relaxing holiday for families and travelers who love the sea, the outdoors and delicious Nordic cuisine. The healthy, human-powered activities on board Byr are suitable for outdoor lovers of any age and skill level.

The first edition of ESVBS is an independently produced pilot, explaining who we are, pointing the direction we want to go, and inviting others to support it.
We made it free for everyone to participate and attend it.
We created it in the middle of a pandemic and global recession, with closed borders and our humble resources, but most importantly with a lot of drive, joy, sweat and passion!
