Qilak
Sailing Expeditions
S/Y Qilak is one of the most amazing expedition yachts ever built.
Designed by Owen Clarke Design, built by KMY, for purpose of running fascinating charter programs in the Arctic and all Polar regions.
HISTORY
Coming from generations of sailors, Philippe Carlier and his children Thomas and Marion wanted to share their huge passion for sailing and exploring the magic of the polar circle in a responsible way, without damaging the wonders of this still wild region.
They decided to develop a project that could serve this ambition: with an idea of the yacht they needed, but nothing on the market that really matched that vision, they decided to design and build a new one.

S/Y Qilak is a 66 feet aluminium cutter, built especially for the polar regions, but with a comfortable living space that also features a sauna!
Qilak is perfectly suitable for Ski & Sail, free diving with whales, and exploring the most remote areas of the Arctic. Even the most sensitive to cold will be able enjoy the view of an icy environment from the comfortable deck salon.
Philippe met Merf Owen, an experienced offshore sailor and naval architect with Owen Clarke Design (OC), who were enthusiastic to take on this technical challenge. They worked together on the project to finally arrive to Qilak, perfect combination of Philippe's dream and OC’s expertise. For the building of Qilak, they selected KMY yachtbuilders in the Netherlands, a well known yard specialised in aluminium boats.

SUPPORT ESVBS
The first edition of ESVBS is an independently produced pilot, explaining who we are, pointing the direction we want to go, and inviting others to support it.
We made it free for everyone to participate and attend it.
We created it in the middle of a pandemic and global recession, with closed borders and our humble resources, but most importantly with a lot of drive, joy, sweat and passion!
You are more than welcome to tip the Creative Director
